Well here it is!  The first mix of the song I wrote for The Foundation for Global Humanity that I told you about. I hope you enjoy it. I'll be doing a remix of it soon, but I wanted you to have this download, and feel free to share it, I want it to get out into the world!

It's difficult, yet fun to record live!  And I had enormous talent to support my vision as I mentioned. I wrote this song, after interviewing the Director of the Foundation, Connie Cummings. What you read in the lyrics, are the issues that are important to her, and why she created the Foundation for Global Humanity, educating, creating a site and recording individuals that preserve ancient knowlege and indigenous ways of being for everyone in our time. As Connie calls it, "Global Humanity." 

This week Elizabeth Woodbury Kasius, Mick Murdick and I prepare to jam at The Mamapalooza Festival here in NYC. Not only will we perform a scaled down, acoustic version of "Dreamers", but I'm going to sing for the first time in public a pretty funny tune on the "woes of feminism"!  It's called "The 21st century blues...."  Should be a blast, hope to see you there!  Check out the calendar for the address. Well, it’s been such a busy year since “Postcards” was released! It’s nearly Thanksgiving and a time to reflect with gratitude on all the wonderful events and people in my life. Thanks so much for all the support. The gigs in NYC were the best, they say if “You can make it there, you can make it anywhere.“ We did some fun festivals this summer and fall. We traveled and received amazing feedback and reviews on the CD. As many of you know, it was just announced that I won “Best International Female Vocalist (Pop) and Best International Pop CD/Album of the Year for the Toronto Magazine Awards. That was very special, since I really worked so hard to make this the best recording I’ve ever done.

I just returned from California and the concert with Patricia White Buffalo and The Heaven on Earth Ensemble, which was filmed live for a special forthcoming DVD release from The Foundation for Global Humanity. You have the check out their website www.foundationforglobalhumanity.org and see the incredible, high-level work they are doing.

My friend Connie Cummings is the Director and you’ll see from the site, what a difference she is making in the world. Joyce Anastasia, formerly of the Albany/Saratoga region is working as an artist, filmmaker in production at The Foundation. Mary Page works for the foundation now, so it was just the best to be on the west coast and singing with her again. As many of you know, Mary and I have sung together for years..but since she and her husband Matt left the East Coast to work for the Foundation, I’ve really missed performing with her and her exquisite presence and voice.

Once again, a special note of gratitude to Gary Goldberg the radio host of “In the Spirit”. on WRPI.org.who consistently supports our music. Gary, thank you from the depths of my heart for assisting us in getting our music and message out there. Thank you to all the musicians who worked with me on the CD and in the course of the year. Thanks to UK Fireworks Rock Magazine for doing a feature article on me and placing my song “Prayer” in the compilation disc that accompanied the Aug/Sept issue. We can hardly wait to conquer Europe this summer! Blessings to all at this important time of year and this important time in Earth history. Happy Spring, and with it, the energy of rebirth, renewal, new beginnings. Well, it's been another incredible time of "birthing" the new CD "Postcards" that was in gestation for many moons! Special thanks to the many people that were part of that project, which I list in the liner notes, and in particular Mary Page, incredible singer and our graphic designer for the covers. And of course Connie Cummings, for her role as Executive Producer, and the Director of "The Foundation for Global Humanity", which we are so proud to be a part of.

Our CD release concert on Saturday, January 12Th at WAMC's The Linda, was completely sold out, they had to find more chairs for all the friends and family that were there to support the launch! I cannot tell you what a moving evening that was to have the party in my hometown, and have all the people that mean so much to me present. People are still talking about the great "loving vibe" that night. To sing with my childhood friend again, Ken Pratt. To have my daughter join me onstage again...to have the great talent, Garland Nelson help bring it to a crescendo at the finale...wow. I especially want to thank my great band too...

Lots of things have been happening since, and we've been busy promoting our new music. We've had some help from area favorite, Host of "In the spirit", Gary Goldberg of WRPI in Troy playing our music, letting people know where we're at. And of course the supporters of original music, and the club owners in New York City have been loving the music. So we're performing in Greenwich Village a lot, and we'll be back at The Mamapalooza Festival in May again.

On March 25Th, I was fortunate to be chosen for the renowned "Chick Singer Night" at The Bitter End on Bleeker Street. My friend and drummer Gregory Nash traveled down all the way from Albany to support me, and sit in. Their house band was incredible, the hostess, Deena Miller, couldn't have been more complimentary, and I really felt myself "bringing the fire", straight up from the core of the earth to the heavens in the performance. Such a great night, the next day, I was offered a label. Hey, never let go of your dreams!

We also have been getting some fantastic reviews, please check out the new ones on the homepage and also "tour dates" to read some. I am humbled and blessed by all the people who have supported me these many years to live my dream. Thank you..I feel like the integration of bringing the spirit of healing and hope through my music is being felt and received in new ways. This fills me with purpose, and the continued prayer of bringing the vibe of peace and love to the masses through music, and from the depths of my heart.

Happy Holidays and many blessings to one and all. It's been an amazing journey, my songs describing it are all on my forthcoming CD "Postcards." After years in the making it is complete! And will be ready for release on New Year's Day,(how fitting to be "birthed" on my birthday!) and officially released at our CD Release Concert on Sat. January 12th, 8pm at The Linda WAMC's Performing Arts Studio, at 339 Central Avenue, Albany, NY www.THELINDA.ORG FOR TIX. All proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to The Foundation for Global Humanity, so the purchase of this music goes to a great cause! Mary Page, who has sung with me for years, is also an incredible artist/graphic designer, did an amazing job on the CD covers...

What a year! It culminated in our East Coast tour with Patricia White Buffalo and The Heaven on Earth Ensemble, and finished with me joining my own band, "The Souls of Evolution" in my hometown, at Proctors Theater, where my incredible daughter Alena, joined me onstage for the first time...very moving. I guess she was ready. Heaven's also gave a concert in Albany, NY at the school I teach Wellness and Emotional Growth at, and am student and administrative advisor for, Center for Natural Wellness. I felt like all the worlds in which I walk really converged that evening.

Happiest of New Year's my beloveds..thank you for being a part of my life, and continually supporting my music. I will leave you with these words of wisdom..

Hi Friends,

Just wanted to share the good news...literally. They've been doing a fantastic job with "New for the Soul" internet broadcasts, and with the release of my upcoming CD, Kymn Williams and my "Angels are Everywhere" CD, upcoming East Coast tour with Patricia White Buffalo, continued teaching at CNW, and my new practice in Manhattan, I thought it a great venue to describe the healing power of music, and give some kudos to the aforementioned incredible people I'm grateful to create with. I also had to mention the great "Barbara Brennan School of Healing".

Nicole, the host has spliced some great songs from our "Awakening to your Magnificence" CD, I didn't expect that! She also plays a bit of "The Crysalis" from "The Rebellious Dreamer" CD featuring Eileen O'Brien & angel-voiced Mary Page. This broadcast goes out globally, and is played several times a day, so it's exciting to reach so many people in the world, with what we do. Well, we've been busy in the studio late winter up until now...hoping to put the finishing touches on "Postcard" this summer, and still have our CD releases in September and October. Also, the Mamapalooza Festival and Conference in NYC on May 19th was amazing. We really rocked the house, and met some incredible musicians. Blues-woman Jo Wymer from Jersey, and her group really knocked our socks off, and we're hoping to perform with them again at one of the releases in Atlantic City. "Housewives on Prozac" featuring Mamapalooza founder Joy Rose, were so tight, with great tunes, classic...

I have been blessed to have some incredible guest stars record on "Postcard" with me, and am really excited about the music, you can hear some of the tunes, prior to them being released on www.myspace.com/JoyAdler . Also click on the interview with "News for the Soul", for some samples, and the talk with the show's host, Nicole about how my path and passion for "music for healing" began.

Heaven's update! Well we're going to be hitting the road in November for the east coast tour with Patricia WhiteBuffalo and The Heaven on Earth Ensemble...check the tour page for dates...and venues...a special shout out to multi-talented webmaster and designer, and incredible singer/musician herself Gina Kosak, from the Pittsburgh area, for continually dealing with me to keep all these sites going! Gina, Tara Charles and I will be performing together in PA in the Fall for the CD release.

For now, I'm continuing the studio process, and preparing to play music with the girls in Ireland in July..signing off for now. Love, Joy

Spring is in the air! And with it, new beginnings, new opportunities…I just learned that I’ve been selected as a featured artist for the Mamapalooza Festival and Conference in New York City on May 19. I’ll be performing with my group “The Souls of Evolution”, and we will play at the world renowned club; “Arlene’s Grocery!”

What an honor to be chosen for their singer/songwriter showcase. The Souls and I will be performing your favorite tunes from Rebellious Dreamer, as well as cuts from our soon-to-be-released CD “Postcards”…In addition to being a featured artist, I’ll be offered the opportunity to attend various workshops, and meetings with industry professionals. I’ve been asked to do promo for Mamapalooza and they’re offering me radio and publishing opportunities…wow..talk about dreams coming true, and manifestation! Thanks to all of you who have supported me throughout my career. And hey come see us, there’s nothing like NY in the spring!

Well the winter solstice is nearly upon us here in NY. Time to reflect on the past year, and look toward the future. For me the continued goal is how and where I can be of the most service to humankind with my music, my voice.

The "Awakening to your Magnificence" tour with Patricia White Buffalo and The Heaven on Earth Ensemble was a wonderful experience. The most touching thing was looking into the audience and seeing folks that I hadn't seen in years. From former students I taught at "The Barbara Brennan School of Healing" in Miami, to teachers I had there when I was a student- to fellow graduates. It really was such a gift of reconnection and support for the next level of our world task and destiny.

Performing with "Buffy" and Heaven on Earth was quite an honor. Our last date on tour in Boston , Buffy began the event as always by reciting her "Awakening" poem that is part of the vision for the musical healing event. As she read, tears streamed down her face as she connected with the audience, and felt their openness and love. I felt her huge heart as I sang beside her, "You are the light that you seek..." What an amazing feeling of connection with everyone there that evening.

Now we regroup, and begin booking tour dates for 2007. Many of you expressed an interest in "hosting' us in your cities and towns to bring that level of healing from these events to your own communities. Personally, one of my roles is to listen through the collection of live recordings from San Francisco and Boston to add additional tracks to our "Awakening" Cd's, now that we have more material from the tour. We begin recording again after the holidays.

In August, it was announced that Joy was one of the first winners chosen by judges of Sunmark’s Shine! Songwriting contest, for the NY Capital District region.

As part of being chosen, 3 of her songs will go on the compilation cd that they’re producing to help raise funds for school music programs. By purchasing the cd of local songwriters work, many children in the area will benefit.

They’ve also asked Joy and her group to perform at their October 21st show as part of their Shine Concert Series.

Joy with vocalist Mary Page and bassist Ryan Lukas will perform several of their tunes and then they will also be joining songwriter Bill Jenkins on his set…stay tuned for further concert and ticket information!

FEBRUARY 2006

In February 2006, Joy learned that the song "Coming Home" which is the most played and requested song from the "Rebellious Dreamer" CD, was chosen for a forthcoming movie soundtrack. The movie was filmed in North Carolina and is in the final sound editing stages. "They wrote me, and let me know that the song was perfect for the final scene in the film. I can hardly wait to see the movie, it's called 'Deer Baby' and it's by a sensational indie filmmaker. We always knew that it would be a very moving song for the right film, so here it is years later, and 'Coming Home' is going to find it's home in a great movie! I still get letters from people from all over the world about how that song touches them. I'm really proud of it, and Eileen O'Brien and Mary Page should be so proud too, we recorded that together, and it was Eileen's idea to change keys, which brought it to a whole new level of emotional depth..."

"THE CRYSALIS"

In other news, the song "The Crysalis", was hand picked for a compilation CD of songs from independent songwriters, to be distributed to movie studios, so that directors and producers may have a taste of some great tunes that are soundtrack ready, or choose to commission the songwriter for their own projects. "I originally pitched this song to the folks at Disney, as I thought it was a positive song for children to really reach for their dreams. They wanted me to rewrite it to fit the standard verse, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus style. That didn't feel good to me at all. I chose instead to maintain the original artistic form in which we recorded it, and felt it. So I'm thrilled that it was picked up on it's merits as we kept it. I actually wrote this and scored it to a documentary on "Reclaiming the Self through One's Creative Nature." Andy Schlee from Atlantic City composed the music from the melody and lyrics that I gave him back in '98. So this was a long time coming.....note to other songwriters out there...Patience! Timing is everything!"

Joy still performs with other musicians as well...we'll be adding links to their sites in the future, so you can catch Joy in person, when she joins these talented folks onstage. She most recently joined West Coast respected Musician, Lecturer and Healer, Patricia White Buffalo as a member of the "Heaven on Earth Ensemble." White Buffalo says: These "Musical Healing Events" will awaken your divine magnificence. The Heaven on Earth Ensemble includes a concert pianist, Native flutist, indigenous drummers, sound healers and vocal recording artist, Joy Adler who will create a World-Music healing expression.

The event moves beyond any secular denomination and moves toward the common spiritual belief that the Divine resides within each one of us...

"East meets West" Joy joins renowned jazz pianist, composer and teacher, Bill Pernice, the great percussionist, composer and producer, Michael T.A. Thompson and host and manager, Kate Pernice from the East Coast, and White Buffalo, Antara, Amita and Kristi Piper from California for this endeavor in May for their first multi-media concert in upstate NY. They'll also be recording a CD of this performance which will be available in September... keep checking out Joy's site for further details...and keep Saturday, May 20th available to witness the first concert of this groundbreaking tour.
